The Template for Intervention Description and Replication (TIDieR) is a 12-item checklist. It is a companion guide published in BMJ (2014). Its purpose is to improve how interventions are described in research. This ensures others can implement and replicate them accurately.

TIDieR framework of intervention items:

  1. brief name
  2. why (rationale/theory)
  3. what—materials
  4. what—procedures
  5. who provided
  6. how (mode of delivery)
  7. where (setting/resources)
  8. when & how much (dose/schedule)
  9. tailoring (if personalised)
  10. modifications during the study
  11. how well—planned (fidelity strategies)
  12. how well—actual (adherence/fidelity achieved).
